The Studio Photography Experience

Session Fees
All sessions include session planning and style consultation.
We'll talk about what you're looking for and what influenced you to do this. We'll determine your optimal shoot date and how to get ready for the shoot.
After the photo shoot
After your portrait session, we'll schedule a Purchasing Session. This is a two-hour, in-person proofing session where you'll enjoy a private slide show of your strongest images.
It's also the time when we create your own custom and unique pieces of art.
Custom design, custom art
We'll consider different layouts, crops and proprietary color treatments for wall portraits, albums, coffee table books and fine art boxes.
Choosing your artwork
You'll have plenty of time to browse through all
the different display options as well as to gauge
which wall portraits suit you best.
Please allow between two and two and a half hours for a
relaxed Purchasing Session.
If you're unable to choose your artwork during this Purchasing Session, you will incur a $500 repeat session fee.
If the Purchasing Session is not included in your package (Mini Tuesdays), you will receive your CD in the mail.
You still have the option of scheduling a Purchasing Session. If you purchase an additional $500 or more worth of artwork during the session, it's free. If additional purchases don't exceed $500, I bill you the difference between $500 and what you do purchase.
Why Purchasing Sessions work
The sheer number of images intimidates most people, especially when they're not categorized into best, medium and "no way" groups.
In the early days of working with the public, I put all proofs online and let people choose from there. Very few women actually made their selections. Some women came back to me years later with their choices, but most of them never did anything with their beautiful images.
Women love having help selecting their artwork
I switched to purchasing sessions in 2007 with immediate and gratifying results. Women loved having the chance to crop, play, move shots around, try different layouts, create panoramics and talk about framing. They also loved leaving all the work for me, knowing that a gorgeous, finished product would arrive in the mail ready to hang or place on the coffee table.
To date, I'm still creating custom layouts every single time I do a purchasing session. Just when I think I've got all the possible layouts in my order system, I end up creating yet another. This is incredibly stimulating for me, and it's satisfying to my clients to have a truly original piece of art.
If you choose not to do a Purchasing Session, you'll receive your CD and order forms in the mail about two weeks after your shoot. |

Do you shoot film or digital? |
| |
Digital, of course! If you're considering working with someone who still shoots film, you are severely limiting your options.
Without ANY compromise on character or longevity, the possibilities digital offers far outweigh any reason to stick with film.

What do people buy and what do they do with their pictures? |
| |
People get two types of photos; one that they can share with their friends and family (usually fully clothed) and another set that they can enjoy in private (the nudes). This often breaks down into two different books.
Most people get a book (up to 40 prints in a book) or a box (up to 14 prints in the large box) and a wall portrait. The very large wall portraits have the greatest impact and, believe it or not, make small spaces feel larger.

should I schedule my shoot? |

your due date, but..... |

Scheduling depends on how your pregnancy is coming along. Schedule earlier if you're slowing down or having multiples.
Schedule any time if you're feeling great and you like your
shape.

What should I wear or bring? |
| |
Bring anything you feel comfortable
in and LOVE. |

Pants - jeans (any color), black

Tanks - anything fitted or stretchy

Avoid patterns, stripes and plaids

Most women opt for white or black, but we can create
whatever suits your taste. |

should I prepare for my shoot? |
| |
Get a manicure and a pedicure a day
or two in advance |

Plan makeup. If you don't opt to
have the onsite makeup artist, you'll get the best
photos if you do your own makeup or visit a makeup
center prior to your shoot. Call to talk about these
options. |

Don't wear anything binding to the
shoot - you don't want marks on your skin.

What
should my husband wear? |
| |
Men should bring jeans or khaki pants
or any other dark bottoms |

I encourage rumpled (not starched),
plain white shirts |

Throw a regular, WHITE crew-neck
t-shirt in the bag, too. |

Bring solid, dark colors like black,
dark brown, navy blue and charcoal gray tops and
bottoms. Layers are great; wear the t-shirt under
a crew- or v-neck sweater or jacket.

are extremely private. Can I restrict the photographer's
use? |

This is a common request. I completely
understand that you might not want to share these
very personal images with the world. Just let me
know and I will most certainly respect your privacy.

Can
I get a CD or digital files? |
| |
Every client receives a CD with all your proofs
at 4.4x6.7 inches @ 72dpi.
This size is perfect for screensavers and emailing
to friends and family. The low-resolution digital
files are not dense enough for printing.

You may purchase all the digital negatives as long as you sign an agreement acknowledging that
the photographer owns the copyright to the images. Additionally, you'll agree never to sell, distribute in any form existing now or in the future or otherwise
financially profit from these images.
