Introducing the new series, "I am..."

On Thursday, November 10th, the Aroma Café welcomes Koren Reyes' solo photography show entitled, “The Nude Series: I am….” with an opening reception from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The exhibit features fifteen large prints Koren created as part of a highly stylized series of everyday women, most of whom are over 40. These regular beauties came to Koren from all walks of life in every color, shape, size and form from all over the Bay Area and New York City.

Each piece is entitled “I am 44,” or however old the subjects were when she photographed them. The photographer wants viewers to know each woman's age to remind our often youth-obsessed culture that striking beauty exists in every body at any age.

Koren photographs these women on a plain white background, slightly over-exposes them and then applies a proprietary process that strips out most of the color and adds an ethereal luminescence to the skin.

No matter what age the women are or whether their skin is black, olive or pink, she coaxes out lustrous, glowing tones that diminish imperfections and pop the subject off the page.

All prints are for sale at $750 framed ($500 unframed) and will be on display until January 1, 2006.

Aroma Café is open from 7am until 11pm daily, and is located at 1122 4th Street in San Rafael, CA.

A perfectly amazing wedding....

I had to be the luckiest person on earth to shoot this wedding. Sarah & Brad got married last month on a perfect fall weekend in the mountains at Sundance, Utah.

Look for images of this spectacular event in Modern Bride Magazine.

  Tricks and Treats

1.
Best way to print pictures of your Halloween goons and goblins
My latest and greatest secret find for print deals is Adorama in New York City. Take your favorite digital images or upload them to Adorama for crisp, clean reproduction on professional Kodak paper. They're regularly 19 cents a piece but if you order more than 300 (definitely use the bulk uploader), they're only 16 cents each! Now it's easier than ever to get those images off your computer and into print.
2.
Best source for photo albums
I've found the best selection of inexpensive photo albums for 4x6 prints at Ross - that "Dress for Less" place. Yup, for less than $6, you'll find everything from adorable to sophisticated albums that hold between 20 to 300 prints. So take lots of pictures of friends and family and store them in a theme-related album.
